Spring Cleaning Your Office

Now that you’re back in the office, It’s time for a good spring cleaning! Yes, it’s going to take some time, but the rewards are worth it! An organized and clean environment will pay off in better productivity and everyone will be in a better mood!

Your Work Space:

It’s important to declutter everything around you on a regular basis.

  • Go through any stacks of paper and sort it. Throw away or recycle what you can, shred what you need to, and file away the rest.
  • Look around for old notes and throw away the reminders you don’t need.
  • Take a look at your desktop now. Are there loose pens, paper clips, or other supplies scattered around? Think about what you really need to have out, and find a home for the rest. Organizers are nice, but too many of them out on your desk can turn into clutter.
  • Go through your drawers. This is where some organizers can come in handy. Especially for small things like paper clips, staples, etc.
  • Throw away the garbage. Mustard and ketchup packets, old pens… out they go!
  • Personal items you don’t use around should go home.
  • Look under your desk. Look for dust that may have accumulated on all those cords down there and wipe them down. Use some cable ties or organizers if you can.
  • Now about those cubicle walls! What’s pinned up there that’s been there a long time? Maybe it’s time to get rid of the old and add something new!
  • Wipe down your keyboard and mouse with a disinfecting cloth, as well as any printers and phones you may have. Then, clean you monitor with a microfiber cloth.
  • Finally… add some color! Fresh flowers, colorful posters, a new picture frame, you get the idea!

General Office Cleaning:

  • Clean any tables with disinfecting wipes
  • Get rid of stains on any dry-erase boards with a whiteboard cleaner
  • Is it time to replace those dry-erase markers as well?
  • Get those office supplies in order. While you’re at it, take an inventory and reorder!

Kitchen/Break Rooms

  • Wipe down all tables and countertops with disinfecting wipes.
  • Give that coffee pot a thorough cleaning… especially if it usually just gets a quick rinse!
